Previously, those large long urls sites had to go to a third-party URL-shortening service such as bit.ly to do the same. Twitters automatic URL-shortening converts a long URL into a short URL just having less characters long. Coming to this shortened form, it is effortless to post as a Twitter message.

The new URL-shortening feature in Twitter robotically shortens any URL when users types as a tweet, into a 19-character URL starting with t.co. The distinction between this service and other services is that user can still scrutiny the first few characters of the original long URL instead of the shortened URL. But you can be sure that the URL is shortened because you can seemingly post messages longer than 140 characters.
