Top 10 ways to send iPod music to Pc

How to send my iPod music to my personal computer? This is the only question runs in our mind when we afraid about our beloved songs or iTunes. It has many reasons, in that first one is by chance we may lose our iPod or it may be stolen. You might be lost a hard drive. Or you would have deleted that files accidentally. So due to these reasons we want to store our music files in our personal computer. To make this work easy and simple, we are going to explain you the process of transferring the files. But once you download the iPod music files in your personal computer, it is safe the theft of the desktop is very rare. Coming to iPod it’s not only a music player but it what we present have the ipod is equal to PC.

Here is the process:

Method one:

Windows - This is one place Windows users have an advantage. If you have a Windows formatted iPod, Windows actually treats it as a removable drive, and you can go in and copy the files, if you know where you want to see.

1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.

2. Make sure “disk use” has been enabled in iTunes.

3. Open up ‘My Computer’ and under ‘Devices with Removable Storage’, double click and open your iPod.

4. Click on ‘Tools’ at the top of the window and drag down to ‘Folder Options’.

5. Under the ‘View’ tab, find the subfolder called ‘Hidden files and folders’.

6. Select the option ‘Show hidden files and folders’.

7. Click ‘OK’.

8. Double click on the newly shown ‘iPod Control’ folder and open up the folder called ‘Music’. These folders are named randomly and your music is impossible to find individually.

9. Select all the folders and copy them to a new folder on your hard drive.

Method two:

1. Plug in your iPod. In Windows Explorer, a folder will now appear with the name of your iPod.

2. Double-click on that. Go to the sub-folders “iPod Control” and then “music”. You’ll find your music there randomly scattered across multiple folders and with scrambled file names. But don’t worry, the ID3 tags are still fully intact and we are now going to “unscramble” the files.

3. But first copy all the music from those iPod folders into a new folder on your hard-drive. Move all the songs into one single folder and discard all the folders that your iPod made. By the end, you should have one folder in your hard-drive with all the scrambled files together.

4. Open up iTunes and do the following: Go to Edit > Preferences. Under the Advanced tab, under the General “sub-tab”, select the local folder where you have copied the music from your iPod (by clicking Change…).

Check the box “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and click OK. Also make sure you have wiped all previous music from iTunes so your playlists are blank.

5. In iTunes, click “File” then “add folder to library”. Select the folder where all your copied music is. ITunes will now re-import all your music back into the playlists. But more importantly, because you have previously clicked “Keep iTunes Music Folder organized”, iTunes will now start renaming and organizing your songs into their correct names, albums and folders. This may take a while depending on how many songs you have in your iTunes library.

There you have it. Oh and don’t forget to go back into Windows Explorer, and to Tools > Folder Options > View. Reverse what you did so the hidden files remain hidden again. You may also want to de-select “Keep iTunes Music Folder organized” if you don’t normally use that option.

You may want to also take this opportunity (before doing the above) to wipe your iPod and revert it back to the factory settings. Life hacker also suggests defragging your iPod. Then afterwards, just use iTunes to move your music from your PC back to your iPod.

After all, the iPod is basically an external memory and like PC hard-drives, an iPod can do with a purge once in a while to give it its speed back.

Method three:

1. First download your iTunes from your iPod and install it.

2. Launch iTunes and you can drag and drop the song files or folders with the music files to the iTunes window. The music files will then be added to the iTunes library.

3. Attach your iPod to the computer. You can then drag and drop the songs from the iTunes library over to the iPod device, which should be listed on the left side.

4. It can take a while for music files to transfer. You can see the progress of the file transfer at the top of the iTunes screen. When you are done moving files to the iPod, you can reject it by pressing the eject icon next to the device on the left side.

Method four:

a) Hook Up your iPod to your pc via usb/firewire

b) The iPod drive appears in My Computer when you have the iPod plugged in to your PC.

c) Once you see the iPod’s drive, copy the SharePod.exe onto it. Open the SharePod.exe and after a few seconds the main window will appear. If a window appears saying you need to download a file for Share Pod to run, simply follow the instructions.

d) When the main window opens, it displays a list of playlists on your iPods. Double-click on a playlist to view its songs. You can either select songs or playlists to copy to your PC.

e) If you want to copy all songs on the iPod to your PC, select the playlist and hit the ‘Copy to PC’ button at the top of the screen. It will ask you where you want the music to go and how you want the music to be formatted once you have set both of these hit the Transfer button and share pod transfer your desired music.

f) From there, simply import your songs into iTunes in the usual manner of File -> Import.

 Method five:

This is actually easy once we know the secret of working with the iPod as a regular device, rather than as a special auto- device. Of course, the sync feature is one reason the iPod is so popular, but just for a few minutes, let’s disable it, okay?

Plug your iPod into the target computer and launch iTunes.

In addition to the usual “Library”, “Podcasts”, “Party Shuffle”, etc, you should also see your iPod on the left side. Click on it to select it.

Now, along the bottom right edge of the iTunes window are a bundle of little icons: click on the one that looks like a tiny iPod. It’ll bring up this configuration window:

One important note here that I do not have either of the first two selected, but rather have “Manually manage songs and playlists”. That’s what you want to select too.

Now, close the preferences window and go back to the main iTunes window. You should still be looking at all the songs that are on your iPod. To copy them onto your new computer, simply select all the songs by using Edit –> Select All then drag them all onto the “Library” entry in the left column.

Give it a few minutes to copy everything and you should be set to go with a restored iTunes library. Phew!

Once that’s all copied over, go back to the iTunes preferences and re-enable the auto sync feature if you want.
