Socialwok – Business Networking Site Integrated with Google Apps
Founded by Voiceroute and launched in September 2009, Socialwok is a social business networking site integrated with Google Apps and Google accounts. The service provides a feed-based format for users to share ideas, files, documents and calendars using rich media status updates.
The idea behind the development of Socialwok was to create media feeds, share information, web links, documents and videos within the organization as well as with external parties; create profiles and status feed pages and publish them on various social networks, websites, blogs, tweets and web pages.
The service is free with customizations available by installing applications and widgets from the Socialwok application platform while paid subscription provides additional administrative features; applications and dedicated support are also available for companies.
A new version of Socialwok has been released that provides: new mention icon in the updater to help users mention people or feeds in messages, new invitation HTML emails for joining a network, external feeds and private feeds, message inserted into email invites for private and external feeds informing the user of what to expect when joining the feed, bug fixed: deleting of comments was failing.
In addition, Socialwok has also released a new plugin for Microsoft Outlook called the Socialwok Outlook Social Connector. It lets Outlook users view a sender’s Socialwok activity stream along side of a received email message and see their Socialwok network contacts email addresses, profile details and photos in an Outlook Contacts folder. By working closely with Microsoft, Socialwok aims at realize it’s vision of being the largest business social collaboration network for cloud based office productivity in the world.
