GistRSS – Follow GitHubs Gist submissions

GistRSS a feed developed to receive updates from a web-based hosting service called GitHub has been written and developed by Adam Thurlow, a software engineer based out of Nova Scotia, Canada.

GistRSS has been designed based on the Google platform AppEngine; an application used to develop and host web applications. GistRSS allows its users to follow a GitHub user’s Gist submissions including contents that are sent to readers with highlighted syntax and the best part of the whole process is that it does not require the approval of the user or the site.

GitHub was basically written for public, open source projects and private proprietary codes therefore, for those who use GitHub, GistRSS is the application you need to track all your GitHub feeds.

GitHub provides pre-rolled post-commit hooks such as IRC, Jabber, Email, Trac, Campfire and so on. In addition, it also allows innovative web hook systems for writing own programs. Every repository comes with SSH support for the purpose of pushing and pulling while private repositories enjoy full SSL support on the web side.
